Month 9 and Finishing
Sep-2011
Hi Ladies I’m working like crazy trying to get my top finished to show you but I’m going to need a few more days. I want to do a scallop border thanks to Danielle’s suggestion so, here’s what I have done so far: .75″ sashing strips around each block and the perimeter of the quilt top (orange with lighter dots). Then pick a colour for the 4.5″ border which will be mitered – this is what I’m workig on today – then we will scallop this border using a circle template – you can use a saucer, dinner plate, tin can or whatever you like:). Now because we are scalloping this border, we will need to cut the binding on the bias yes 45 degree angle so it goes smooth around the scallops.
So how does this sound? Have you done mitered borders with me before or on your own? If not, don’t worry they aren’t hard and they sure look great!!
Scallop border? Well I haven’t done one of these before, have you? I’ve done alot of research and figured out how to do this without some special tool that we would have to purchase. So, once I get my mitered border done today, I’ll post more pictures to this blog:) sound good.
