Journey of a Quilter: Block 3

Hi Ladies, block 3 will be shipping out today…Congrats Kathy our winner for Month 2!!

apply fuse to back of silks, cut according to colour and sort into piles

sort according to which mini block the colour piece belongs to

I laid out the pieces onto the paper diagram to make sure I have what is required, if not freak out…just joking

mini block 1 don’t you just love the beige silk – I think it makes this block. You will connect beige f and pink b then connect to the rest of the block. For the last row, connect all 3 together first then connect to the pink silk

mini block 2, connect either vertical or horizontal in 3 rows

This block is a bit tricky, you will connect the center 9 blocks together first into a 9 patch on point (diagonal)

then connect the corners: brown silk attach to green corners, make sure your triangles are going in the correct direction, took some figuring to get the placement

connect opposite corners to 9 patch then the other corners in the same fashion, watch the way you press your seam allowance or just press it open to be safe

mini block 4 connect all of the skinny rectangles first, then connect the last row together (remember mine is showing beige silk yours will have beige f in this left hand corner) first then connect these to the center and  top rows

Final block layout – looks pretty good, I really like the Dark Pink b) fabric, what do you think?

Kathy was quite surprise as she put it "I never win anything, even if I’m the only on in for the draw" lol congrats Kathy, enjoy the scissors…

I’m trying to think of excellent prizes and I’m thinking the scissors will be a good one? Thoughts?

    Happy Easter Everyone!!

    Congratulations, Kathy!!

Valerie, I think scissors are an AWESOME prize.

We are home from our Spring Break trip to Victoria, where "found" another quilting shop and bought lots of fabric and some patterns!!

I’m done in time! Wahoo! LOL. I finished all the piecing and most of the stitching. Unfortunately I ran out of some thread so that’ll wait for now.

I have all 3 blocks now pinned to my wall…I can’t wait to add more.

The posted blocks look wonderful. Work consumed almost every waking hour during the month of April so all I was able to do was admire the fabric when it arrived. Looking at getting caught up now that May has arrived.

Sounds like Quilt Canada was a success – I was in St. Johns two years ago and had an amazing experience.
