A Kittens Tale Month 6
Aug-2010
So for month 6, we’ve had a few new joiners, welcome to you all 🙂
layout your fabrics, get all of your pieces cut according to colour
I’ve managed how to figure out the “new” pinwheel way based on that demo
I showed all of you…if you haven’t watched it check it out here.
after about 5 tries I finally figured out what the formula is 41/8″ squares
gives you 4 – 21/2″ HST (half square triangles)
sew all the way around, stopping approx 1/4″ from edge, pivot continue all the way around
cut across on the diagonal, both ways, sew your pinwheels together, make sure the direction you want them to be in, square up your blocks to 4.5″
prepare all of your applique pieces, this block has quite a few so take your time
to make sure you’ve done them all.
if you are using the fusible web method, once you’ve cut your shape out to the exact size, sometimes it’s difficult to grab the edge of the paper, one trick is to score the paper with a needle, then just peal it off. This way you don’t fray any of your edges trying to get the paper off.
Trace your markings, making sure you have enough room on all sides and
top and bottom remember for seam allowance also.
as you can see the sun was peeking in on me this morning, what a nice morning to sew:)
square up your stitchery block before you attached it to the pinwheel borders…finish tracing the stitchery markings for the cat’s face, birdhouse and teapot and you’re ready for a quiet night in your favourite chair 🙂
Thanks for supplying the measurement for the 'new' pinwheels. I do all my pinwheels this way now, it is soooo much easier. But fiddling with the measurement? Let's just say I'm glad I have you in my life. LOL Thanks for posting that little tippit. Love it.
