Crazy Christmas – Month Two

Hi Everyone, sew the first month is complete – what do you think? Any questions or do you require anymore detail if so please just let me know 🙂 I’m here to help!

Some more tips that I’m figuring out as we go:

  1. when centering your plain or stitchery block onto your batting layered on top of your backing fabric. You want the top of template 1 to be 3 3/4″ from top and bottom of your batting
  2. You want each point on each side of your template 1 to be 3 1/4″ from the batting on each side

For Month Two we will be completing 3 blocks

  1. Yellow Plain
  2. Gold with stitchery
  3. Cappuccino Plain

When Squaring up your blocks after you’ve finished connecting all of your templates to your center template one.

  1. Put your ruler edge on the top straight edge of your template one seam measure out 3 1/2″
  2. then square up opposite side to 13″

**remember we are making 13″ square blocks not 12.5″ as the pattern calls…

Wool pieces and what they are for 🙂 sorry I missed this the first time I posted!

  • side facing penguin dark blue 1.5 x 2.5
  • arms for both med blue 2×2
  • white for belly’s for both 2×2
  • feet for both red 1×2
  • both presents purple 1.5x 2 1/4
  • side facing head border trim and belly 1.5×2

Here’s out complete first row – yay I LOVE it how about you?

Attach your sashing 1″ strip to the front and 1.5″ strip to the back of the right side of the blocks except the last block in the row…hand stitch it down on the back

I played around with some decorative stitches on my sewing machine. I picked 3 seams on each blocks and selected stitches at random for that seam…each seam on each block is different…here’s some samples

 Any questions?

I love the blocks coming up and the decorative stitching you have done. I will practice before I attempt. Thanks again for your great tutorials and for answering my many questions.

Hi Charlsey, thanks for your comment and your feedback, it's sew appreciated!

Yes, please make your blocks your own, I thought 3 seams per block was perfect but you never know I may go back and play some more yet!!
